Floods at Vision Waaia 1413AM

The 1413 AM tower in Waaia/Numurkah has been surrounded by floodwaters for more than a week. Locals have been amazed that, despite the Victorian floods, the station has continued to transmit. The farm where the tower is located has been completely underwater during the height of the flood and the tower base along with it. By God's grace, the house yard, which is surrounded by a levee bank, was spared even though the levee blew out a few times and four pumps were needed to keep the water out. The broken creek shown in the picture above is usually only 10 metres wide. It was about 7km wide at the high flood level.
