SCG to host US Baseball

The Sydney Cricket Ground is set to host the opening series of next year's US Major League Baseball season.

Two games between the LA Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks will be held over a weekend in March and will become the first time a competitive US baseball fixture has been played in Australia..

Aussie Wildcard for Wimbledon

Australian Matthew Ebden has been rewarded for his strong recent form with a wildcard entry into Wimbledon.

The 25-year-old won the Challenger tournament at Nottingham last week and will compete in the main draw of the grass-court grand slam for the second time.

Tamou punished over drunkeness

NSW prop James Tamou has been stood down from State of Origin game two after being arrested for drink driving.

He will also miss the North Queensland Cowboys' crucial NRL clash with St George Illawarra on Friday night and been fined $20,000. The punishment is a little harsh according to Queensland Captain Cameron Smith.

Tim Grant, Aaron Woods, Willie Mason and Aiden Tolman are the front-runners to replace suspended Tamou in State of Origin game two.

Jobe Watson re-signs

 Essendon captain Jobe Watson is set to become a one-club player after signing a new four-year AFL deal with the Bombers. The reigning Brownlow medallist opted to sign the agreement rather than become a restricted free agent at the end of this season.

The 28-year-old has played 163 games for Essendon and is a triple club best and fairest winner.

Harry Kewell

A-League boss Damien de Bohun says there's no reason Harry Kewell can't create as big a splash second time round in the competition and revive his World Cup ambitions.

The 34-year-old is in talks with Melbourne Heart about signing for the coming season, with a deal potentially set to be finalised within days.
